When creating your profiles on social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, do take a second to reflect on the image you intend to create for yourself. Are you looking to project the fun side of your personality, your professional life, your family life or all three? Be sure when selecting the photo you will be using as your profile picture, that you have taken the previous choices into consideration. If you are opting to create a professional image, because you recognize the massive benefits of using social media as a business tool, then by all means put your best face forward. People want to do business with people they like and first impressions are the beginning of a wonderful connection.

Have a friend take a superb photo of you in a relaxed pose or better yet, invest in a professional photo shoot. Head and shoulder cropped photos are best and allow the viewer to see your eyes and smile making you more appear approachable. Don’t forget to smile! You'll be able to use these photos over and over again in your brand collateral, its well worth the investment. Remember that personal profiles are for personal photos so reserve your logo for your Facebook Group or Fan Page.
