When creating your profiles on social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, do take a second to reflect on the image you intend to create for yourself. Are you looking to project the fun side of your personality, your professional life, your family life or all three? Be sure when selecting the photo you will be using as your profile picture, that you have taken the previous choices into consideration. If you are opting to create a professional image, because you recognize the massive benefits of using social media as a business tool, then by all means put your best face forward. People want to do business with people they like and first impressions are the beginning of a wonderful connection.

Have a friend take a superb photo of you in a relaxed pose or better yet, invest in a professional photo shoot. Head and shoulder cropped photos are best and allow the viewer to see your eyes and smile making you more appear approachable. Don’t forget to smile! You'll be able to use these photos over and over again in your brand collateral, its well worth the investment. Remember that personal profiles are for personal photos so reserve your logo for your Facebook Group or Fan Page.
 
Final tip and probably the most important, be sure that you use the same photo across all social media platforms; you want to leave your friends, fans and followers with a consistent and lasting impression. This is your first step in creating an effective branding strategy.

Fall Is Coming…and you can turn a new leaf too!

Read on to learn time saving tricks by our UGG Organizing Expert Angèle Lord.  Angèle will also be sharing her tips and trick on how to "De-clutter and De-stress" at the coming UGG in Mont Tremblant, Quebec, November 6 - 8, 2009.

As adults, we view January as the beginning of a new year, but for kids, September is really where their year begins.  Most kids, if not all kids, love organizing their new school supplies, in their new school bag, shopping for new clothes and even sometimes, adopting a new look.  So why not take advantage of this “new leaf” and instill some great organizing tricks into their lives.  Here’s a few you might like to try with your crew.  But remember, you also have to do it for yourself and your spouse.  Don’t enforce something that you are not willing to do yourselves. 

• Organize a space in your entrance hall for their school bag, a place to hang their coat, store their shoes and/or boots and hang their hats.  Where do you set your keys, briefcase and purse down every night?

• Organize a small space on the kitchen counter to collect the lunch bags.

• Leave a file folder or small in-basket in your kitchen or entrance for them to leave all the important papers they may have for you.

• Have them prepare their own lunches for the next day while you’re preparing dinner and then take advantage of this time to discuss the day’s events with them.

• If at all possible, have a small desk for them to do their homework at in their own space so that this habit will take root very early in life.  They’ll thank you when they reach high school or university.  (Yeah, sometimes it takes that long!)

• If your son or daughter needs more time to get ready in the morning, because of a disability or just difficulty making decisions, have them lay their clothes out the night before. 

• Forget perfection…but allow for lots of creativity and individualism.  It may not be your way of doing things - but you’re also not letting them organize YOUR space and things either. 

And remember to involve them in the decision making process whenever possible, so that they’ll “own” the new decisions and habits being instilled.  Encourage them by reminding them of the benefits involved in the new habits.  For example, “You won’t miss out on important field trips because I’ll have seen all the paperwork and sent my authorization!”  Or, “You won’t be going off without a lunch, because we’ll know exactly where your lunch bag is!”

With the coming of fall, also comes another wave of Ultimate Girls Getaway weekends!  I may be reluctantly saying good bye to summer but eagerly saying hello to a lot of fun filled weekends ahead.  And according to my numerology (I'm an 8) I will definitely be hitting the spa come UGG time!  Read on to learn your number and 9 Ways to Maximize you UGG Experience by Pauline Edward. Numerology is a phenomenal tool for helping you determine your projects and activities, for it very clearly describes your personal trends. Some of you are already familiar with your personal year number from my talk last November, I thought it might be interesting to explore nine different ways in which you can maximize your UGG experience. This number sets the tone for the year, and will be reflected in your opportunities, as well as your mood and interests.

For those who did not attend, but hopefully you will attend UGG Mont Tremblant, calculating your personal year number is easy. Simply add together the following numbers: your birthday and birth month, plus the current calendar year. The only rule you need to remember, is to reduce each number to a single digit before you complete your sum.

For example, if your birthday is June 19, your personal year number would be 9 and is calculated as follows:

June, the 6th month = 6
+ the 19: 1+9 = 10; 1+0 = 1
+ the 2009: 2+0+0+9 = 11; 1+1 = 2
then, 6 + 1 + 2 = 9

How we love our gardens, our flowers and our outdoor space - but sometimes keeping everything under control can be mind boggling!   Here’s a few suggestions you might want to try:

•    An old golf bag can be recycled into a yard tool caddy: it’ll keep your rake, hoe, and flower stakes well organized and off the floor of the shed or garage.

•    And old hockey or duffel bag can also be used for smaller garden tools and the pockets of either one can be used for string, small hand tools, garden gloves and knee pads.

•    And because you’ve created a place for every tool, replacing them after every use will be a cinch and you might actually enjoy working in the yard again!!

And remember, if you have kids encourage them to “work” with you, by buying their own child-size tools and gloves and a proper container to store them in.  Make sure to teach them right away the importance of putting their tools and gloves away properly and it’ll soon become a habit for them.

Friday Night Pajama Party Montebello 2009!

The Friday Night UGG Pajama Party is always a blast!  Dressing in your favorite PJs for an evening of good ole fashion girlfriend kind of fun is our favorite kick off to all of our Ultimate Girls Getaways.  All night the ladies mix, mingle, graze on scrumptious Fairmont cuisine, sip their favorite cocktails, laugh and sing the night away!  New friendships are made and old ones are strengthened as the night carries on with a variety of entertainment.  In Montebello, Sophie Terrasse introduced the group to Laughter Yoga and Vered Haiun taught the ladies how to let out their inner goddesses through dance.  We also launched our first ever "Ultimate Pajama Contest" by Fashion Expert Monica De Liz where the winner received a personal wardrobe consultation.  Stay tuned for this blog coming soon!

Laughter Yoga comes to the UGG!

Ho Ho ha ha ha!  Ho Ho ha ha ha!
Very good!  Very good!  Yeah!!

 

These were the sounds coming from Sophie Terrasse Laughter Yoga class, which also became the anthem of the UGG Montebello weekend.  There is something so fun and liberating about just laughing out loud for the joy of it... and because you can!

Sophie will also be at the upcoming UGG in Mont Tremblant, November 6 - 8, 2009.  We hope you can join us!

Our Sponsored Sister Hassiba from Afghanistan

One of the most rewarding parts of the Ultimate Girls Getaway is seeing the power of women helping women. By every girlfriend in attendance, we are able to annually sponsor women survivors of war. The sponsorship is through Women for Women International that provides food, shelter, medical needs and education for an entire year.

We look forward to receiving the letters from our sisters letting us know how they are and how the program has helped their lives and in turn, their families and communities.   Below is a letter from Hassiba who graduated from the program earlier this year.  Due to cultural reasons we were unable to get a photo of her but we were so happy to receive this letter.  We wish her all the best and congratulate her on all her accomplishments in the program!

Saturday Night Little Black Dress Party!

The Little Black Dress Party is a Saturday night tradition at all of our Ultimate Girls Getaway events.  After spending the day bonding over entertaining and inspiring seminars and the night before in our PJs, on Saturday night we get dressed up!

Just add a delicious Fairmont dinner, entertainment and room full of women dining, laughing and sharing stories and the night is set for guaranteed girlfriend fun!  In Montebello, Funny Mommy, Kate Davis had us in hysterics with her stand up comedy routine as we snacked on desert and afterward we went to the Fairmont bar for a night cap and hit the dance floor!
