In a few short weeks, Nadja Foods will be heading to the Natural Products Expo East in Boston. It will be an exciting show and right now our days and nights are consumed with preparing for this big event!
What I really like about this show are the initiatives Expo East Boston and the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority have put into place to care for the environment and the community.
At the end of the show there is enough leftover food to fill an entire supermarket so thankfully, it's trade practice for all the leftover food to be donated to the local food bank. It's nice to see it does not go to waste but into the communities that needs it the most.
Expo East also goes the extra mile to incorporate environmentally friendlier practices for their show. First, they provide composting for the leftover food not salvageable for the food bank. Second, they only use green cleaning products, which makes a huge impact considering how big the show is and how much cleaning goes on over the 3 days. Third, all the restrooms paper products are made of 100% recyclable content (25-30% post consumer). With the thousands of people in attendance, that would have been a lot of virgin fibers being unnecessarily used. Fourth, there will also be recycling bins available for metals, bottles and cans, carpet and padding, cardboard, plastic and all paper. And finally, their vacuums have a "Hepa" filter which do not allow dust particles back into the air.
Thank you Expo East for all your efforts. See you in a few weeks!!
